More than 3,000 guests, including government officials, legal experts, university leaders, scholars, alumni, and students, gathered at Xiamen University (XMU) on Oct 24 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the university's law discipline.
Xu Xianming, honorary president of the China Law Society Jurisprudence Institute, stated that XMU's School of Law ranks among China's leading law schools, stressing the need to cultivate high-quality legal professionals with political integrity, humanistic and scientific literacy, and professional competence.

Zhang Rong, chairman of the University Council and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, emphasized that the school's development has progressed alongside China's rule of law and called for innovation and open collaboration to advance Chinese modernization.
Shen Liang, a senior official of the Supreme People's Court, called for deeper cooperation between law schools and judicial authorities to integrate legal theory with practice in support of Chinese modernization as well as the building of a law-based China.
The 100th anniversary celebrations also featured an academic symposium on legal support for Chinese modernization, legal education, and research, as well as an alumni forum on career prospects for legal professionals in the age of artificial intelligence.
