The NCA Xiamen Summit: Global Communication and Global Governance was held on May 30 at the Siming Campus of Xiamen University (XMU).

Organized through the academic platforms of XMU and the National Communication Association (NCA), the summit incorporated communication and journalism departments from ASEAN countries into its cooperative framework for the first time. Nearly 150 scholars and experts from around the world attended.

At the summit, a China–ASEAN alliance for journalism and communication education was established. It focuses on areas such as journalism and communication studies, cross-cultural communication, and the training of international communication professionals, and is open to universities, research institutions, and media organizations across China and ASEAN member countries.

At the opening ceremony, Wu Chaopeng, vice-president of XMU, reflected on the university's century-long development in its journalism and communication education, noting that XMU's School of Journalism and Communication has remained committed to international collaboration and maintained close ties with universities and media institutions across ASEAN and beyond.

He noted that communication research continues to evolve in step with these societal shifts and expressed hope that the momentum of collaboration generated by the conference would be sustained, contributing to the ongoing development of a global scholarly community in communication studies.
