A delegation, led by Professor Nigel Brandon, dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London (Imperial) and a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, visited Xiamen University (XMU) on May 13.
Professor Brandon delivered a lecture titled "Innovation in electrochemical technologies for the low-carbon energy transition" to an audience of nearly 100 faculty members and students. Drawing on his decades of research, Professor Brandon outlined technical pathways for electrochemical innovation and the commercialization of laboratory research into industrial applications.
Zhang Rong, chairman of the University Council, noted that the two universities have conducted reciprocal visits since establishing institutional relations in 2012, which aligns with XMU's ongoing research in energy conservation and carbon reduction.
During an afternoon meeting at the university's Hemu Building, representatives from both institutions discussed joint student training programs, young scholar exchanges, and the development of joint research platforms. The visit concluded with discussions on further strengthening institutional cooperation and academic exchanges in the field of energy.
