XMU professors visit SMU to strengthen academic ties

A delegation of professors from Xiamen University (XMU), led by Professor Zhou Yinggang, dean of the School of Economics and the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE), visited Singapore Management University (SMU) from July 20 to 22.

Professor Zhou, together with Professor Lin Juan and Assistant Professor Yue Yang, conducted discussions with SMU representatives, including Chan Soon Huat, academic director of MSc in Applied Finance (MAF), and Tee Chyng Wen, academic director of MSc in Quantitative Finance (MQF) at SMU's Lee Kong Chian School of Business.

Both sides exchanged views and explored cooperation in overseas master's programs, dual master's degrees, scholarships, and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

In addition, the XMU delegation engaged in discussions with several alumni based in Singapore, including graduates from the WISE-SMU preparatory program and representatives from Hwa Chong Institution, which was established by Tan Kah Kee, founder of XMU.

Professor Zhou expressed hopes to further strengthen ties with alumni to jointly build a development community between XMU and its alumni, who expressed great encouragement and delight at the progress of XMU's economics disciplines.

Professor Zhou also attended the 2025 Institute for Operations Research and the Management Science (INFORMS) International Meeting with his delegation, discussing potential collaboration with Professor Chen Ying from the National University of Singapore.
