A joint research and development center for scientific instruments was inaugurated in January at Xiamen University's (XMU) Siming Campus, marking a new partnership between the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces and Hikvision.
Professor Xie Suyuan, director of the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces, outlined preparations for the center as well as early construction progress at the ceremony, expressing hope for technological breakthroughs in the development of critical instruments and talent cultivation.
Wang Xilong, head of Hikvision's education business unit, said the company's experience in smart education solutions, teaching instrument development and industry-education integration would provide a foundation for collaboration in training and resource development.
The center will concentrate on the independent design and manufacturing of high-resolution mass analyzers, the domestic substitution of key components, and the integration of high-performance instrument systems. It also plans to establish a platform that combines spectral data interpretation with AI-driven algorithms, while advancing the development of technical standards and promoting pilot applications in key sectors.
Hikvision, a global provider of digital technology solutions, has built up expertise in multidimensional sensing technologies and is integrating large-scale AI models with chromatography and spectroscopic detection techniques. Its innovation in scientific instrumentation has drawn industry attention and is expected to inject fresh momentum into China's drive to localize high-end instruments.
