Xiamen University held its 13th "China Day" Chinese Culture Festival on Nov 22, featuring a multidimensional showcase of traditional Chinese culture under the theme of promoting mutual learning among civilizations. The event attracted nearly 1,000 students and faculty members.

A major highlight of this year's festival was the live performance of Gezai Opera, a national intangible cultural heritage. Su Yanrong, a recipient of the China Theatre Plum Blossom Award, provided on-site commentary that guided the audience through the distinctive aesthetics of the traditional art form.

The interactive area offered 11 intangible cultural heritage activities, including Chinese tea art, paper-cutting and calligraphy.

Naandam Rachel Wuntaanin from Ghana participated in the Gezai Opera workshop and noted that every activity — from elegant traditional dance to calligraphy and Min Opera — deepened her appreciation for Chinese culture and its rich heritage.

Elly from Kazakhstan, who attended "China Day" for the eighth time, said the event brings fresh inspiration every year and continues to unveil the strength and beauty of Chinese culture.
