The "Bridging History" salon, held on Oct 30 at Ghent University, featured the launch of the inaugural issue of Dialogue Transculturel — a special edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of China–EU diplomatic relations — and the release of the German edition of Eastern and Western Cultures and Their Philosophies.

At the event, Iulia Ivana, representative of publishing group De Gruyter Brill, highlighted the importance and value of this journal within their publications on Area Studies.

Professor Liu Yue, editor-in-chief of the journal and director of the Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations at Xiamen University, emphasized that the journal seeks to build bridges between China's international research and overseas Chinese studies.

Ondrej Dostal, member of the European Parliament, delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing that mutual understanding is essential for enabling systematic discussions among scholars, think tanks, and policymakers, which are vital to the sound development of the international order.

The event concluded with a roundtable discussion chaired by Professor Bart Dessein, member of the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences.

Participants engaged in constructive and consensus-oriented discussions on approaches to fostering dialogue between Eastern and Western civilizations, concluding the event in an atmosphere of harmony and mutual understanding.
