Xiamen University (XMU) recently hosted the opening ceremony of its "Chinese Literature and Culture Week" and inauguraetd the New Era Literature Research Center of the Chinese Writers Association.
The research center appointed Cui Qinglei, executive editor of Contemporary Chinese Literature Studies, and Xu Yong, director of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at XMU, as its directors.
At the ceremony, Zhang Zongyi, president of XMU, highlighted the university's century-long legacy and achievements in Chinese language and literature studies. He emphasized that, leveraging the China Writers Association's rich literary resources, the university will comprehensively strengthen discipline development, talent cultivation, and academic research.
Nan Fan, researcher at Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, noted that Fujian's long-standing maritime culture offers invaluable creative resources for the Min school of literature.

In line with the event's theme, the university hosted a seminar on works by writers belonging to the new Fujian maritime literature movement and three sessions of academic dialogues, bringing together literary theorists, critics, and writers from across China for in-depth discussions.
The "Literary Masters in Xiamen" event drew widespread attention during the week. Yan Jingming, vice-chairman of the China Writers Association, delivered a lecture titled "Reading the Classics, Understanding Lu Xun", addressing the enduring significance of the classics and Lu Xun's legacy.
