XMU president leads delegation on official visits to Malaysia and Thailand

President Zhang Zongyi led a delegation to Malaysia and Thailand from Sept 19 to 26 for official visits.

Zhang delivered a speech at the 7th graduation ceremony of the Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM). He encouraged graduates to become lifelong learners, connectors of diverse civilizations, and guardians of value rationality.

Then he visited Kuen Cheng High School in Kuala Lumpur and the United Chinese School Committees' Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) where he engaged in discussions on topics such as student progression and training for Chinese language teacher.

During his stay in Malaysia, President Zhang also chaired the sixth meeting of the third Board of Directors of the XMUM, reviewing the campus's recent development report.

Then he visited the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and met with Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei. They discussed educational exchanges and cultural communication between XMU and Thailand's education sector.

President Zhang also participated in the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Confucius Institute at Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), as China and Thailand celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

He attended the inaugural alumni reunion and delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of expanding youth exchanges and exploring cooperation in frontier fields such as artificial intelligence and public health.
