The academic symposium "Chinese Field and Scholarship of Public Opinion Studies" kicked off in Xiamen University (XMU) on Sept 26.
The symposium brought together representatives engaged in public opinion from various sectors, renowned scholars from leading universities across China, as well as senior professionals from major media organizations including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency and China Media Group.
Through innovative approaches, participants engaged in cross-sector dialogue to explore the localization and practical application of public opinion studies in China.
During the symposium, keynote speeches addressed central questions such as "Where is the Chinese field of public opinion studies?", "What constitutes Chinese scholarship in this field?", and "What are the future trends of the global public opinion arena?"
In the cross-disciplinary dialogue session, experts and scholars from both academia and industry discussed pressing issues requiring theoretical guidance in current communication practice.
Topics included understanding and evaluating weak communication theory and reviewing specific cases of weak communication in practice.
In parallel with the symposium, a special lecture was delivered by Zou Zhendong, executive dean of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Arts.
