Li Nan, director of the division on Investment and Enterprise at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), visited Xiamen University's School of Economics on Sept 9.
Her visit coincided with the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held in Xiamen, providing an opportunity for in-depth discussions on research collaboration and policy advisory.
Director Li gave a briefing on UNCTAD's initiatives in sustainable investment, enterprise development, and policy analysis, emphasizing the pivotal role of CIFIT as a platform for fostering international investment, corporate expansion, and sustainable finance.
Li highlighted the fair's significance in facilitating dialogue between policymakers and investors, aligning with UNCTAD's mission to promote inclusive growth through investment and business development.
Professor Chen Jian, deputy director of XMU's Center for Macroeconomic Research, presented two advanced economic monitoring systems developed by the center: a real-time monitoring system based on big data and a quarterly macroeconomic forecasting system. These tools support comprehensive economic analysis in a rapidly changing global environment.
Associate Professor Li Kai introduced the Economics of Globalization and Chinese Economy (EGCE) program designed to cultivate students with a global perspective on China's evolving role in the global economy.
The discussions encompassed key topics such as sustainable finance, international investment, and the development of global production and investment networks. Both parties expressed keen interest in deepening future collaborations to address these critical areas.
