Xiamen University held its first-ever information science open day on April 19, drawing more than 4,000 primary and secondary school students and their parents to campus to explore the fascinating world of information science.
The event featured 26 interactive technology booths and four popular science lectures. Children eagerly gathered around the exhibits, captivated by various cutting-edge robots.
Among the highlights were robots powered by 3D technology that brought digital models to life. Additionally, there were agricultural robots aimed at transforming traditional farming practices. XMU presented its own "Siyuan Foundation Model" — a sophisticated multimodal large language model capable of delivering interactive responses in milliseconds, functioning as a powerful AI assistant on mobile devices.

In the lecture halls, XMU faculty members captivated the young audience with discussions centered on the integration of smart technologies in everyday life, sparking curiosity and encouraging students to participate.
