Professor Yang Yong of Xiamen University was among seven professors worldwide selected as an ISE Fellow for 2026 by the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE).

ISE awards the fellowship to a small number of members in recognition of continuing outstanding scientific and technical achievements in electrochemistry. Candidates must remain active in research and have made significant contributions to the field in recent years. The number of ISE Fellows is limited to about 5 percent of the society's active membership.

Yang has long focused on energy electrochemistry and energy-storage batteries. His research has produced internationally recognized results in high-specific-energy lithium- and sodium-ion battery materials, battery reaction mechanisms, and in-situ characterization methods.

He has published more than 500 papers in major academic journals, with more than 40,000 citations and an H-index of 111, according to Google Scholar.

Yang previously served as an editor of the battery journal Journal of Power Sources and as president of the International Battery Materials Association. He was also named a Fellow of the Electrochemical Society in 2024.
