Chinese Bridge contestants visit XMU

The 25th Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students brought 157 contestants from more than 130 countries and regions to Xiamen University (XMU) on Aug 14.

The event featured the third round of the points competition, along with a series of cultural exchange activities at XMU's Siming Campus.

The third round of points competition, centered on spoken Chinese, was held in the morning. Contestants gave presentations and took part in discussions on topics including the 25th anniversary of the "Chinese Bridge" program, their travels in China, and their first impressions of the country.

At Furong Lake, Professor William N Brown from the School of Management joined international students from Nigeria, the Philippines, and other countries for a discussion with contestants on learning Chinese, cross-cultural experiences and life in China.

The "Chinese Bridge" series of Chinese language competitions is organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. It has reached more than 160 countries and regions and attracted over 1.8 million overseas young people. This year marks its third year in Fujian, expanding its cultural experience routes to Xiamen and Zhangzhou, in addition to Fuzhou and Pingtan.
