The International Union for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IUEES) has completed its registration in China as an international scientific organization.
Lu Yonglong, secretary-general of IUEES, dean of the College of the Environment & Ecology of Xiamen University (XMU), and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to Beijing to receive the registration certificate.
IUEES was founded by XMU, the Fujian S&T Consulting Center, and the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE). It was established based on SCOPE, which was founded in 1969 and dedicated to global environmental science. SCOPE is also a member of the International Science Council (ISC).
According to the organization, the registration of IUEES in China marks the establishment of an international scientific organization building on decades of environmental research experience in China.
IUEES said it will focus on ecological and environmental sciences and global sustainable development, while promoting scientific innovation, international cooperation, talent development, and environmental governance.
The organization aims to work with global partners to support scientific progress and international collaboration in the environmental field.
