The 2025 China University Baseball and Softball League Finals concluded in Yizheng city, Jiangsu province. Xiamen University's (XMU's) baseball team clinched the professional group national championship with an undefeated record, marking its fourth national title since its founding in 2009.
As the highest-level collegiate baseball and softball event in China, the tournament featured four divisions, namely group A (general), group B (vocational colleges), group C (high-level), and group D (professional). It attracted 29 teams and over 700 athletes from leading universities including Tsinghua University, Tongji University and XMU.
Demonstrating outstanding technical skills, teamwork, and resilience, XMU defeated the defending champion, Nanjing Tech University, with decisive victories of 9-1 and 6-0 in the double round-robin matches as a result of their thorough tactical and mental preparation.
The team also received the Sportsmanship Award, while head coach Tu Weilong received Excellent Coach. Players Sang Yang earned the Best Pitcher, Wang Zihe and Shen Zhize were recognized as Outstanding Athletes, and Ma Daichen and Sang also received Sportsmanship Awards.
Additionally, XMU's baseball team has consistently performed well in national and other high-level competitions. The university previously won national titles in 2016, 2017, and 2023, and has also achieved top rankings in the Cross-Strait Baseball League. In 2024, player Fu Huachen was selected for China's U23 national team, which achieved fourth place in the Baseball World Cup. Six XMU athletes, representing Fujian province, advanced to the baseball finals of the 15th National Games in July.
