The 24th cross-Strait debate competition for college students took place in Fuzhou city, Fujian province from July 24 to 27.
Supported by the China Association for Science and Technology and organized by the Fujian Association for Science and Technology and Chinese Youth International in Taiwan, the event saw the participation of students from 15 universities across the Taiwan Strait, including Fudan University, Beijing Normal University, National Taipei University of Technology, and Shih Hsin University.
Representing Xiamen University (XMU) were students like Fan Kexin and Cheng Biao from the School of Law, Wu You from the School of Management, Chen Xianlong from the School of Public Affairs, and Zhang Wenzhui from the School of Life Sciences. Under the guidance of Zheng Bowen, a lawyer from Fidelity Law Firm, the team excelled, winning all their matches and ultimately clinching the championship. Fan was honored as an outstanding debater.
The competition, focusing on hot topics like the impact of AI on innovation and youth development, featured intense debates and showcased strong critical thinking.
The cross-Strait debate competition, established in 2002, serves as a bridge for cross-Strait youth to engage in intellectual exchanges. XMU's victory underscores the university's dedication to rigorous training and intellectual prowess.
