Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) recently took the top spot in the national rankings of the Nature Index, moving up one place from its previous position.
The Nature Index, a comprehensive database based on 82 prestigious scientific journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell, serves as a key indicator of research excellence by tracking the publication output of academic institutions in influential international journals.
XMUM demonstrated its research prowess with the inclusion of 10 scientific papers in the latest rankings, covering a diverse range of fields like energy materials, nanotechnology, green chemistry, and basic physics. This achievement underscores the school's commitment to progress in cutting-edge research areas.
In recent years, XMUM has significantly strengthened its research output and academic influence. Since its establishment, faculty and students have published a total of 1,986 papers in international journals, with 1,089 appearing in high-impact publications like Science. Six papers have been recognized among the top 0.1 percent of papers globally, while 101 papers have ranked among the top 1 percent of highly cited papers.
Moreover, the school is actively engaging students in research activities, with over 400 student-authored papers published to date, demonstrating the success of their research-oriented education approach.
