On October 22, the final of the 6th China College Students PR Plan Contest (hereafter, PRPC) was held in Xiamen University. M-studio from XMU claimed the gold award by virtue of their unique design and witty improvisation.
This national competition has lasted 7 month since it kicked off in this March, with 1, 594 teams from 173 universities and colleges nationwide signing up for it. A total of 54 teams advanced to the final, and 16 teams came to the fore through the preliminary contest. The following rounds turned out altogether two golds, five silvers, eight bronzes and one grand award. Besides the gold winner M-studio from XMU, the Streaky Pork Team from Zhejiang University of Media and Communications also garnered the gold. The grand prize went to the KO Student Leaders Team of Tsinghua University. It is worth noting that this year’s competition set a record for its unprecedented level of participation and the quality of its entries.
The theme of this PR Plan Contest is “creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship— envision the future of PR”.Unlike the previous five contests, this time the word “entrepreneurship” is added to the name of the event, which aims to highlight the principle and purpose of the PR planning industry. Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of XMU Yan Lifeng said that as Xiamen has evolved into a city of innovation and entrepreneurship, the spirit of innovation of Xiamen coincides with this PR contest. This is also the first time that our university has held the finals of this contest. Known as the “strength of the south”, Xiamen University has always placed a high premium on innovation and encouraged its students to start up their own businesses. Xiamen University had already won gold medals in the last two contests held in 2012 and 2015. In a manner of speaking, XMU has reaped a harvest of three consecutive championships given the newly-won gold this year.
