XMU Teacher Song Wei to publish in world-class economic journal “Econometrica”

Recently, Econometrica has posted on its website a forthcoming article entitled “Estimating Semi-parametric Panel Multinomial Choice Models using Cyclic Monotonicity”, which is jointly authored by Song Wei, a youth teacher in economics from XMU, Shi Xiaoxia, associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Matthew Shum, a professor of CIT. This paper is another landmark achievement published in the top-tier international economic journals following the publication of a paper by a young teacher of economics in American Economic Review in 2017.

Econometrica is the proceedings of the Econometric Society, which takes rank with American Economic Review as the two topmost comprehensive journals in the world. The 2017 impact factor of Ecomometirca is 3.379, and its 5-Year Impact Factor is up to 5.214. This journal publishes original articles in multiple areas of economics, including abstract theories andempirical applications, especially innovative ideas and applications pertaining to the research methods of econometrics.

Graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Song Wei joined the XMU Gregory and Paula Chow Center for Economic Research and the Department of Statistics of School of Economics of XMU in 2017 as an assistant professor. Dr. Song is mainly engaged in the research of econometrics and applied microeconomics.

In recent years, XMU economics has been advancing at an ever-quickening pace to become a world-class discipline and has been doing its utmost to make the voice of XMU heard on the international academic stage, and so far has achieved remarkable results. According to incomplete statistics, since January 2017, teachers of XMU Economics have published 21 articles (including formally accepted articles) in A-Class international journals including American Economic Review, Annals of Statistics, Biometrika, Econometrica, Econometric Theory, International Economic Review, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Management Science, Review of Economics and Statistics and Review of Financial Studies. Econometrics, as a new growth driver in the XMU interdisciplinary fields, has spearheaded and advanced the development of some relevant disciplines of China by building the world-class faculty, establishing the top-tier platform for academic exchanges and training the internationally competitive personnel.
