On November 13, the Zhi Sheng Prize award ceremony for the 2016 China's Top Ten Best Teachers of the College Finance Experiment Teaching was held in Guangdong University of Finance. Chen Haiqiang, an associate professor from the Wang Ya'nan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics in Xiamen University, is placed on the honor roll of the award-winners. Professor Chen is also the deputy director of the Key Laboratory for Econometrics of the Ministry of Education of China (KLEMEC for short). This honor is a tribute to his remarkable achievements in the area of experiment teaching and research as well as an indication of the peer-to-peer recognition for the good job well done in the experiment teaching reform by KLEMEC under his leadership.
This awarding activity, organized by the Economics and Management Department of the Joint Committee of the National Demonstration Center for Experiment Teaching, aims to set a role model par excellence in this realm and award those who have made great contributions to the experiment teaching of finance in the hope of motivating more to dedicate their efforts to this field.
In recent years, in order to upgrade the experiment teaching and talent training quality with regard to the discipline of economics of Xiamen University, KLEMEC has taken a multiplicity of measures to bring more teachers into the construction and reform of experiment teaching, constantly refining incentive schemes to enhance the building of the experiment teaching team of XMU. At present, under the Excellent Experiment Courses Construction Plan conducted by KLEMEC concerning the discipline of economics of Xiamen University, a total of fourteen courses in three batches are being constructed. In addition, KLEMEC has also held many other activities such as holding relevant symposiums, seminars or lunch meetings etc. for the teachers to share and exchange experiences, with the purpose to facilitate the integration of research resources and experiment teaching, and thus convert more scientific results and approaches into the teaching content and teaching methods with which to nurture more high-caliber economics majors of Xiamen University.
