Curtain raised on CASAL’s annual conference at XMU

On November 26, the 18th annual conference of China Association for the Study of American Literature (CASAL) kicked off with a grand opening ceremony at the XMU Siming Campus. This splendid academic event was hosted by CASAL and organized by the XMU College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC).

Over 300 delegates from more than 180 universities, institutions and publishing houses across China attended this meeting and presented a total of 127 full-length papers and 371 abstracts. The participants sat down together and engaged in a heated discussion as well as in-depth exchanges on the theme of the “Study of American Ethnic Literature: Spatial Expansion and Boundary Redrawing”. The conference mainly consists of conference speeches, group discussions and postgraduate forum.

Group Discussions

This annual event has provided a platform for researchers of American literature nationwide to gather together in Xiamen to enhance communication, build rapport and strengthen bonds with one another. In the meantime, this academic get-together has also helped speed and smooth the flow of ideas and broaden the minds within the realm of literature studies, and would conduce to the development of the studies of American literature in the new era.
