XMU students shine in 2016 UA Creation Award & International Concept Design Competition

Recently, the results of 2016 UA Creation Award & International Concept Design Competition have been announced. A trio of undergraduate students from XMU School of Architecture and Civil Engineering were awarded the second prize, which placed Xiamen University on the third rank among all participating universities.

With “Rural Architecture in UA City” as the theme this year, the organizers expected the participants to focus on the real nature of rural buildings and explore how to adapt to and lead a wonderful country life through the creation of material space. The award-winning work designed by the XMU students entitled “Much room for mushroom and you” is not only mindful of the architecture per se, but also inclusive of the contemplation over the realistic problems in China’s rural areas from the perspective of sociology.

Xiamen University has always made it top priority to encourage students to participate in high-level international competitions, hoping that they could combine professional standard with social practices. This honor not only raised the profile of XMU School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, rekindled the passion of the teachers and students for various competitions in the days to come, but also incentivized them to go farther and higher in their efforts to provide better services for cities and villages with their creative designs.
