The newly released list of proceedings for CVPR 2017, viz., the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, unveiled that four papers from the School of Information Science and Engineering (SISE) of XMU have been accepted, hitting a record high in the recent years.
Of the four accepted papers, two are attributed to the research team led by Prof. Li Shaozi from the Department of Artificial Intelligence of SISE, one contributed by Prof. Ji Rongrong’s team from the same department, and one by the team headed by Prof. Ding Xinghao, who is from the Department of Communication Engineering.
Widely known as one of the top three conferences in the realm of computer vision, CVPR is also included in the category of A-level conferences by China Computer Federation (CCF). The acceptance rate of CVPR is approximately 20% each year. In the year of 2017, the total number of contributed papers amounted to over 4,000, the accepted ones are just about 700, less than 20% of the total. It was not until 2015 when Prof. Ji Rongrong and his team had their paper accepted by CVPR in 2015 for the first time for XMU. Following the historic breakthrough, SISE kept up the good work and achieved impressive results this year.
Since 2013, the teachers from SISE have also achieved other breakthroughs by publishing their papers as the first authors for the first time in the following CCF-recognized A-level conferences:
International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) of 2013;
ACM International Conference on Multimedia (ACM-MM) of 2014;
The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) of 2016
