XMU regatta 2017 wraps up with a bang

On March 26, 2017, the first XMU regatta was rounded off at Siyuan Valley, Siming Campus. It consisted of two team events and five individual events, covering three major categories, i.e., dragon boat, kayak and paddleboard. In particular, the exhibition event ofmanned paper boat was added to spice up the game. The match attracted a total of 337 students from 22 colleges and teachers and showcased to the XMUers the glamour of water sports and traditional Chinese culture.

After rounds of competitions from dawn to dusk, the “High flier” team from School of Aerospace Engineering reaped the most important award – the dragon boat championship. As for the paddleboard event, Wang Hanlin from the College of Humanities garnered the gold award as a novice rower in the 150m male race finals. Apart from their impressive performance, all the teams and contestants also demonstrated high morale in spite of thescattered showers in the midst of the game. Vying against each other in skill, coordination and speed, the players from varied college displayed their spirit of striving together for excellence. The scene was abuzz with cheers, shouts, hurrahs, whistles, slogans and music which attracted many passers-by to stop by to watch and take pictures.
