On April 11, the news “Celastrol Can be Used to Treat Obesity” grabbed the headline in the column of “Latest Discoveries and Innovations” on the front page of Science and Technology Daily, reporting the latest research findings of Prof. Zhang Xiaokun’s team from the XMU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

According to the report, the research group, led by Prof. Zhang Xiaokun from XMU, has published their latest achievements in the Molecule Cell, a companion to Cell, the leading journal of biology and the highest-impact journal in the world. Prof. Zhang discovered the mechanism of metabolic control target of celastrol that is separated and extracted from the Chinese herb Tripterygium wilfordii Hook. f., and this discovery could lead to potential treatment for obesity.
