From April 7 to 10, as part of the celebration activities to mark the 96th anniversary of Xiamen University, the 3rd National Frontline Forum on Nanotechnology was held with great success at XMU. This event was sponsored by C-MRS and the Bureau of Frontier Sciences and Education, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, XMU, together with the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces (XMU) and Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials. 165 scholars, who are currently active at the forefront of nanotechnology, including the winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Outstanding Youth Foundation, and Cheung Kong Scholars, attended this forum.
The forum is mainly focused on interdisciplinary study with respect to nano materials and devices, with the purpose to cope with remaining challenges and potential bottlenecks for a broader use of this technology. It is worth noting that the forum of this year proceeded in a novel fashion, every attendee was required to use 3-10 minutes time to deliver their speeches and summarize their personal achievements with just one sentence.
Over the past decade plus, XMU has closely followed the latest development of nanotechnology, and thus established Pen-Tung Sah Institute of Micro-Nano Science and Technology several years ago and The Workshop on Industrial Technology of Graphene two years ago. XMU has invariably strived to make contributions concerning the study of nano materials which are about to bring a seismic shift within the realm of Materials and Energy.
