Zhu Chongshi, president of Xiamen University, won the title of “The Most Favored University President 2015”, according to Kang Kai, general secretary of China Association of Higher Education, at the Award Ceremony and Forum for “Students’ Favorite Presidents of Universities 2015” held in Beijing on 17 Jan 2016.At the same time, the video production team, composed of Promotion Department of Xiamen University, Youth League Committee and School of Journalism and Communication, was also awarded “The Best Original Micro-Video Production Team”.

The paean to Zhu Chongshi writes: “He, the steadfast patron saint of the education ideas of Tan Kah Kee (the founder of Xiamen University), sows in the mind of the students the spirits of patriotism, revolution, self-improvement, and scientific attitude, inspiring their ideal with faith, indiscriminate love and a combination of strict and tolerant administration. He uses his own way to build a campus with all-inclusive services, and help the students develop a character of Xiamen University, being calm before difficulties and being moral before temptation. He has kept reforming and innovating administration, highlighting his courage and insight to be a pioneer, and further developing the spirit and belief of the motto of Tan Kah Kee, “Pursue excellence, Strive for perfection”. He, Zhu Chongshi, president of Xiamen University, administrating the university for 13 years, now has become the students’ most favorite president in terms of being a mentor, a venerable senior and a friend of the students.”

“Students’ Favorite Presidents of Universities 2015” is an activity initiated by China Association of Higher Education andThe China Youth Daily,one of the top national newspapers, started in June 2015, aiming at the improvement of students’ qualities, advocation of students-centered education, affection for students, creation of a rich and various campus culture, and promotion of harmonious relationship between teachers and students. About 100 universities actively responded to the initiative. The procedure includes the students’ recommendation, students’ video production, students’ voting, qualification examination, experts’ reviewing, and open public evaluation.
