On 6 Jan. 2016, Mr, Hooshang Talebi, president of University of Isfahan paid a visit to Xiamen University, having a talk with Zhu Chongshi, president of Xiamen University, over the cooperation between both sides.

At the meeting, President Zhu recalled his visit to University of Isfahan last year, which gave him a deep impression.He said that University of Isfahan has strong subjects in econometrics, mathematics, geology, life sciences etc and has a team of excellent professors. The professors of two sides have common interest in research and there is a comprehensive cooperative room. Farsi language is the unique program of UI, while College of Foreign Languages and Cultures of Xiamen University is preparing for the initiation of the program. So far both sides have signed a memorandom on cooperation between XMU and UI as well as an agreement on cooperation in the field of mathematics. He hoped that the cooperation on the basis of the above agreements can physically start soon.

Mr. Hooshang Talebi expressed his hope to fully cooperate with top faculties of XMU, including the exchange of students, joint program for PhD programs and joint host of conferences. He also invited professors of XMU to attend the conference on mathematics and economics which would be held in UI in the mid of 2016.

Others present at the meeting include Seyed Komail Tayebi, director of International Scientific Cooperation Office of UI, Saeid Azam, professor of mathematics in UI and member of Institute of Sciences of Iran, Tan Shaobin, assistant to president of Xiamen University, Hong Yongmiao, dean of School of Economics, Xiamen University, Zhang Longhai, dean of College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Xiamen University, and Yu Hongbo, deputy director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Xiamen University.

After the meeting, the delegation of University of Isfahan visited College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the School of Economics, the national key laboratories of chemistry and life sciences, and also the library, swimming pool and other facilities in Xiamen University Xiang An Campus. During the visit, the delegation also had a talk with Iranian students in XMU and encouraged them to work in University of Isfahan after they graduate.
