On 7 Dec., 2014, Xiamen University and University of the Philippines signed an agreement on the cooperative construction of a Confucius Institute in University of the Philippines. The agreement was signed by Ms Xu Lin, Director General of Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), and Alfredo E. Pascual, President of the University of the Philippines. The implementing agreement was signed by Zhu Chongshi, President of Xiamen University and Michael L. Tan, President of University of the Philippines Diliman.
This will be the 16thConfucius Institute that Xiamen University has undertaken. There are currently 476 Confucius Institutes around the world.
