XMU Honorary Professor Christian Amatore Received the Chinese Government Friendship Award

On September 30, the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award Ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing. State Councilor Chen Yiqin presented the awards. Professor Christian Amatore, recommended by XMU, received this honor.The Chinese Government Friendship Award is the highest honor established by the Chinese government to recognize foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization and reform and opening-up endeavors. In 2024, a total of 100 foreign experts were honored with the Chinese Government Friendship Award.


Christian Amatore is an outstanding Visiting Professor and Honorary Professor at XMU. He is an expert in the field of international electrochemistry, and an academician of the French Academy of Sciences and a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He pioneered the field of ultramicroelectrodes and made significant contributions to fundamental electrochemistry. Professor Amatore is an active promoter and practitioner of Sino-French scientific and technological cooperation and exchange. He advocates for science without borders, respects every scientist, teaches numerous students from Third World Countries, and encourages them to return to their home countries to serve.

Professor Amatore has established long-term cooperative relationships with Xiamen University, Wuhan University, and other universities, dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation between the educational and scientific research communities of the two countries. In 2006, he facilitated the establishment of the Sino-French Joint Laboratory on Nanobiochemistry, which promotes talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation.
