7 XMU disciplines rated A-level by Ministry of Education
On December 28, 2017, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 4th National Assessment of College Academic Disciplines. 7 disciplines of Xiamen University have been rated as A-level ones, namely, marine science, applied economics, chemistry, statistics, business administration, law, biology.
Compared with the third assessment, which was held four years ago, the fourth one added three more disciplines of XMU to the national ranking of top 10% and another three of XMU to the ranking of top 10% to 20% (excluding top 10%). This time, a total of 52 disciplines of XMU spanning across 11 categories (not including psychology) have participated in this assessment.
This event is aimed to evaluate the overall quality of the accredited Master/Doctoral degree programs in China in accordance with Degree-conferring Disciplines Catalogue adopted by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education. Up to now, four assessments have been successfully accomplished since 2002, with each occurring nearly every four years. The latest one, i.e., the 4th assessment, is conducted among 95 academic disciplines out of a total of 7,449 from 517 higher education institutions across China.
