On the afternoon of September 9^th, 2016, XMU lifted the curtain on its Teachers' Day symposium as well as the opening ceremony of the Freshmen Forum of 2016. Mr. Zhang Yan, the Party secretary of the university attended and addressed the audience.

This academic year will see the university host its 2016 Freshmen Forum, which would invite renowned and representative experts and teachers of varied ages and from different disciplines and areas, among whom are such as senior Prof. Pan Maoyuan of liberal arts, Mr.Tian Zhongqun, the academician of Chinese Academy of Science, celebrity teachers at both the national and provincial levels, winners of Young Teacher Teaching Skills Competition of XMU and the “Top Ten Favorite Teachers of XMU”, etc. By citing their own personal experiences as well as the stories of Xiamen University and other colleges, these elite teachers would help the freshers learn the ropes as soon as possible, enable them to better understand the campus life and university history and thus give them the impetus to achieve all-round personal development in the days to come. According to the rudimentary plan, the forum will run through the whole school year between 2016 and 2017, a total of sixteen lectures would be given both in Siming campus and Xiang’an campus.
