Professor Xie Suyuan and his group's research win the second-class National Prize of Natural Science
Professor Xie Suyuan from College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and his group’s research “The synthesis of new type of fullerene” won the second-class National Prize of Natural Science of 2015.
The fullerene is the allotrope of carbon, which has an important application prospect in organic photovoltaics, anti-cancer medicine, catalyzers and other fields. In the past, scientists can only study the molecule in the gas phase case due to the variability of the synthetic fullerene. The method found by Professor Xie and his group will be a universal one to synthesize a series of new fullerene, which will make it possible for in-depth research and application research in this regard.
