Andrey Denisov, Russian ambassador to China, had a meeting with Zhu Chongshi on 5 December 2015 during his participation in the Symposium on Teaching of Russian Interpreting and Studies of Interpreting, the first symposium in China held in Xiamen University . At the meeting, Andrey Denisov said that the relationship between China and Russia has been developing to our common goal, though it has had some twists and turns on the way. With the steady development of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Russia, the cooperation between the two countries has branched out into all-round businesses. In such a situation, more professionals who know well Chinese and Russian are needed and higher education plays an important role in this work. He expressed his thanks to Xiamen University for its efforts in the teaching of Russian and for its support to Russian teachers and students who are working and studying in the university. He hoped that more teachers and students in the two countries can take part in the exchange program in order to produce more professionals.

    Zhu Chongshi, president of Xiamen University, expressed his thanks to Andrey Denisov for his visit to Xiamen University and his efforts to promote the cooperation between the two countries. He said in the past years, Xiamen University has made great progress in the cooperation with Russian universities in the exchange of teachers and students. He emphasized that Xiamen University will continue to promote the cooperation with Russian universities in higher education and culture, producing more elite professionals for the all-round cooperation between the two countries. President Zhu also expressed his wish to set up Confucius Institutes in Russian universities and to make the symposium regular one. Andrey Denisov said he would go all out to get the two wishes come true.
