On September 29, the ninth award ceremony for “Fujian Friendship Award” and celebration of the 66^th anniversary of People’s Republic of China was held in Fuzhou, seat of Fujian Province. Two foreign teachers of Xiamen University, Larisa Smirnova, from College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, and Holger Merlitz, from School of Physics and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, received the awards for friendship. 

    According to Zheng Xiaosong, the vice governor of Fujian Province, who presented the trophies on behalf of the government, there are more than 40,000 foreigners in Fujian, while 1400 of them are foreign experts and 2700 of them are technicians. This year, we present 15 of them with the trophies for their contribution to the development of Fujian economy and society.
