On September 9, a delegation led by Celia Wade-Brown, mayor of Wellington city, New Zealand, and Nancy Bell, CEO of Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand, visited Xiamen University, discussing with Mr. Ye Shiman, vice president of XMU, about the possibility of cooperation in training kindergarten teachers. According to Ye, the development of XMU kindergarten is sure to be internationalized in the future.

After listening to the introduction by Chen Weixin, the head of kindergarten, to the history of the kindergarten and the characteristics of courses as well as education philosophy, Nancy Bell expressed her admiration for the ideas which emphasize the natural development of kids and respect for the children. She was in full agreement with that the courses designing and teaching should focus on the children’s interest.

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown was also surprised at the similarity of XMU kindergarten’s education philosophy to theirs. At the end of the meeting, Celia Wade-Brown and Nancy Bell sincerely invited Ye to visit Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand and hoped that the teachers of XMU kindergarten can join in their training courses. Mr. Ye accepted the invitation and expressed thanks to their proposal for the teachers training.
