The International College celebrated its tenth birthday
On 30 May, the International College of Xiamen University celebrated its tenth anniversary on XiangAn campus. 600 people, including the staff and students, schoolfellows, parents of students, guests from more than ten cooperative universities in UK, USA, Japan, Ireland, attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Prof. Wu Daguang, vice president of XMU, expressed his congratulations on the tenth birthday of the college. He said, in the past ten years the college has produced more than 2400 graduates, and most of them have the experience in studying overseas. In this sense, the college can be recognized as the most highly internationalized college in Xiamen University. The success of the college owed much to its extensive cooperation with more than 60 famous universities in the world. He hoped that in the next ten years, the college would not only continue such a cooperation, but also expand the cooperation in cultivating students with academic aptitude.
Mr. Gerry Muldowney, DBS CEO, Mr. Bashir Makhoul, vice president ofBirmingham City University, Mr. Martin Dyke, vice dean of Southampton Education School, also gave speeches to express their congratulations on the birthday and wishes for further development of cooperation.
So far the college has established cooperative programs in more than 60 foreign countries, including UK, USA, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Canada, etc, covering the BA and MA in the subjects like education, economics, arts, management, information technology, etc. 90% of the teachers have got MA degrees or PhD.
