XMU’s second International Culture and Communication Day enlivened the campus life

    On 9 May, the Second International Culture and Communication Day was held on the main campus of Xiamen University and XiangAn campus. Foreign students from about 20 countries and regions participated in the activity.

    The activity was composed of three subjects, Exhibition of Culture, Customs and Practices, Foods and Performances. Each stand was delicately decorated to highlight the characteristics of different countries and regions’ cultures. Korea students let visitors try on their traditional costume and practice throwing games, Indonesian students in traditional costume provide the visitors with curry rice, Malaysian students explained the connection between theirlanguage and Chinese culture while preparing nice food. Ghana students’ B-Box music, Korean ebullient dance, Malaysian songs, tasty foods, Thailand’s ritual of new year’s greeting and Water-Sprinkling festival let the participants enjoy a cultural feast, while all kinds of pendants, signs, postcards, flags decorated the campuses, making the two campuses look like a small “global village” and a harmonious big family.

    The International Culture and Communication Day is held each year, aiming at promoting mutual understanding of different cultures and different peoples.
