Music students visited the world-class music schools
From February 6 to 15, 2015, seven music major students, led by Prof. Su Li, the dean of Arts College of Xiamen University, and Prof. Chen Shuhua, vice dean of Arts College, visited University of Cincinnati, University of Delaware, Rutgers University, Columbia University in the City of New York, The Juilliard School, and Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.
The delegation has achieved the following positive outcomes:
1. Signed an agreement in joint training of undergraduates and graduates with University of Cincinnati.
2. Consensus on the signing of an agreement with University of Delaware for 2+1 postgraduate program in March.
3. Consensus on the agreement with Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in the exchanges of teachers, joint training of postgraduates and empowerment of Xiamen University to offer bridging course for Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris .
4. Get confirmed that Dr. Randall from Teachers College, Columbia University comes to teach and do research in the Arts College of Xiamen University during his sabbatical time, and teachers from The Juilliard School to teach violin course in June this year.
During the visit, students exchanged music performance with the students of University of Cincinnati, and gave a concert to the Music Department of University of Delaware and alumina in America, in which ”Jasmine Flower”, the chamber Chinese music, “Beijing, My Hometown” female solo, “Piano trio in B flat”, Schubert Piano Trio No.1 are impressive, according to the audience after the concert.
The visit to American and French famous arts universities is a part of Xiamen University’s Internationalization of Education Project, which encourages all the disciplines to cooperate with high level universities in the world.
