Cardiff University Delegation Visits XMU

On Jan 8, Nora de Leeuw, vice president of Cardiff University, headed a delegation to pay a visit to Xiamen University (XMU). Zhan Xinli, vice president of XMU, met with the visiting guests. Both sides held a friendly talk.

  

At the outset, Vice President Zhan Xinli extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She pointed out that the cooperation between Xiamen University and Cardiff University could be traced back to 2006. As one of the British Universities most closely-connected with XMU, Cardiff University has developed effective partnership with Xiamen University in multiple fields, including the joint construction of the Confucius Institutes, scientific research, joint training programs, etc. Xiamen University shall endeavor to deepen its cooperation and exchanges with Cardiff University, said Zhan.

  

Nora de Leeuw thanked Vice President Zhan Xinli for the warm reception and expressed her appreciation for the fruits of cooperation of the two universities over the past years. She noted that the two sides could  further explore opportunities for more diverse and deeper partnership in such areas as teaching and research.

  

During the meeting, both sides examined into the particulars mainly with regard to how to promote mutual exchanges of visits of teachers and students from the two universities and the problems concerning the enrollment, training goals and curriculum development of the joint Ph.D programs.

  

Also present at the meeting were Jiang Yunbao, executive vice dean of the Graduate School of XMU, Fang Ying, vice dean of the Graduate School, Zhang Shengqiang, deputy director of XMU Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Yang Jianzhong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Medical College.
