8th Cross-Straits Public Law Forum takes place in XMU

From October 29 to 30, the 8th Cross-Straits Public Law Forum was held at XMU. The item on the agenda of this forum is entitled “public rules for using administrative powers”. This forum consisted of multiple sessions, including keynote speech, scholar forum, student forum and keynote symposium. The specialists and scholars of public laws from China Mainland and Taiwan gathered together and engaged in a heated discussion around the given topics.

  

Zhan Xinli, vice-president of XMU, extended a warm welcome to the participants from Taiwan. She said that the flesh and blood relations between XMU and Taiwan goes way back, and XMU has been committed to the peaceful development across the Straits. On the strength of its cultural and geographic advantages, Xiamen University will continue to ramp up the cross-Straits academic and cultural exchanges among students and universities from both sides.

  

On the morning of October 29, Qiu Weijie , assistant to the president of XMU, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He noted that for a long period of time, XMU has given full play to its geographical and other advantages to conduct Taiwan-related academic research from political, economic, legal, cultural and social perspectives. The Cross-Strait Public Law Forum is an annual event of wide ramifications in the law field. He hoped all those present could reap a harvest of academic results through the exchanges.

  

The Cross-Straits Public Law Forum, which was jointly launched by Renmin University of China Law School and National Chengchi University Law School, seeks to advance long-term and stable exchanges and interaction between the two sides of the Strait in fields of public Law and legal practice. Alternately organized by the sister campuses from Chinese Mainland and Taiwan, this forum invites the scholars from across the Strait and has so far earned wide renown and a good academic reputation.
