XMU elected to Collaborative Innovation Center of the Advanced Aero Engine 2011

On September 13, the Collaborative Innovation Center of the Advanced Aero-engine 2011 held its fourth council meeting in Beijing. During the meeting, members of the council present approved to add Xiamen University to the council by voting and advised to co-opt Mr. You Yancheng, executive vice dean of School of Aerospace Engineering of Xiamen University, into the council as a member.

  

The Collaborative Innovation Center of the Advanced Aero-engine 2011 was co-launched by Beihang University and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), aiming to ramp up China’s independent research and development of the advanced aero engine through original innovation. The center was founded on September 8, 2012 and obtained final approval on April 11, 2013. It is one of the 14 collaborative innovation centers which are first recognized by the Ministry of Education. In 2016, the center was rated “excellentin the mid-stage assessment organized by Ministry of Education. As the dean of School of Aerospace Engineering of Xiamen University, director of Technology and Science Department of Aero Engine Cooperation of China and chief designer of the national major project named “Aeroplane Engine and Gas Turbine”, Academician Yin Zeyong also serves as the director of Industry Evaluation Committee of Collaborative Innovation Center. This is the first time for the Collaborative Innovation Center to co-opt a higher education institution since it was founded five years ago.

  

It is reported that this “Two Engine” project is placed first among top 100 projects in 13th Five-Year development plan with total investment of over a hundred billion RMB. The Aero Engine Cooperation of China is the responsible body for the development of the aero-engine of the “Two Engine” project and is also regarded as a major base underpinning the national aero-engine industry. On June 28th, Xiamen University signed a strategic cooperation contract with the Aero Engine Cooperation of China. The School of Aerospace Engineering of XMU has been making every effort to seize this opportunity to fully participate in the basic research and the development for some of the models.
