From July 6 to 7, Li Jianfa, Vice president of Xiamen University and Deputy secretary of the School Party Committee, led a delegation on a visit to Xiamen University Malaysia Campus (XMUMC) and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia.

On the morning of July 6,  Vice president Li held talks in two sessions respectively with the teachers and students there who are from Chinese mainland, trying to get a better picture about their work, study and life in the Malaysia Campus. During the talks, the representatives of teachers and students introduced the exciting changes of XMUMC over the past year. Meanwhile, by drawing on their personal experience, they put forward their ideas and suggestions with regard to teaching and studying styles, classroom instruction, curriculum setting, qualified teaching staff and academic planning, etc.  Li listened attentively, made a detailed record of the questions and doubts raised by the teachers and students and gave answers to each of them with patience. He pointed out that XMUMC is an important attempt for China's higher education to “go global” and has special significance in promoting people-to-people understanding as advocated by the Belt and Road initiative. He expressed hopes that XMUMC teachers will be able to pass on the fine traditions of Xiamen University in combination with the local reality of Malaysia to better advance the development of XMUMC. He also exhorted the students to cultivate a global perspective while harboring Chinese ethos and do their part to further promote bilateral cooperation and friendship between China and Malaysia.

The next morning, Vice president Li and his delegation paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia where they met with the Embassy Chargé d'affaires Ma Jia and some officials from theCultural Department of the embassy and the consular section. Li gave sincere thanks to the embassy for their solid support for the development of XMUMC. After that, the two sides held consultations on how to enhance partnership between the embassy and XMUMC.
