On June 7th, Lin Yueh-Jaw, Vice President of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) who is in charge of the global Affairs of UNNC, headed a delegation to pay a visit to Xiamen University. Zhan Xinli, Vice President of XMU, met with the visiting guests. Also present were Assistant President and Tan Shaobin, Dean of XMU Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges. Both sides had a talk on the theme of the internationalization of higher education, and had an in-depth exchange of views on such aspects of recruiting, managing and promoting job opportunities with regard to international students.

At the meeting, Lin provided some relevant information about UNNC, and noted that UNNC, still in its salad days, looks forward to drawing on the advanced school-running experiences of its prestigious peers including XMU in an effort to achieve greater development and progress on all fronts.

Zhan also briefed the meeting on the internationalization of higher education under way in Xiamen University, and emphatically introduced the XMU Malaysia Campus (XMUM). She went on to say that the University of Nottingham is a world-renowned university with a cornucopia of experiences with regard to globalization on higher education. And UNNC is a vivid example of the partnership between Chinese and foreign schools. As both XMU and UNNC are committed to going global in school-running and both have established their overseas campuses in Malaysia, Zhan hoped that the two schools could further strengthen their cooperation and learn from each other for the benefit of both sides.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is the first Sino-foreign university approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in China. Established in 2004, it is jointly run by the University of Nottingham and Zhejiang Wanli Education Group. UNNC has now over 6,500 students, including 750 plus overseas students who are from more than 70 countries and regions.
