At the invitation of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), Prof. Hong Yongqiang, Prof. Sun Daoheng and Prof. Qing Xinlin attended the ceremony of the debut flight of C919 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

Since the foundation of the School of Aerospace Engineering (SAE), Xiamen University has proactively expanded the cooperation with COMAC in personnel training, scientific research and other areas. According to the strategic plan of building a one-stop aviation maintenance base in Xiamen, SAE is expected to work with COMAC, AECC, Xiamen Free Trade Zone and some airline enterprises in Xiamen to jointly build an aviation engineering service research center, focusing on relevant technological problems in the detection and maintenance of domestic aircrafts and engines and providing technological support for the establishment of one-stop aviation maintenance base and services for China’s big aircraft project, the “two engines” key project as well as the aviation industries in Xiamen.

C919 is China’s first single-aisle mainline commercial jet with independent intellectual property rights that fully meets airworthiness standards and mainstream marketing standards. The success of its first flight signified China’s massive breakthrough in the civil airplane technology and has initially formed its core capacity to build large passenger aircrafts.
