On 6 April, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Mr. Tan Kah Kee’s birth, and to promote the spirit of Tan Kah Kee, Xiamen University held a launching ceremony for a series of activities commemorating the 150th anniversary of Mr. Tan Kah Kee’s birth in front of the Qunxian Building on the Siming Campus.

During the ceremony, Prof. Zhang Rong, Chairman of Xiamen University Council, Mr. Chen Ming, Mr. Tan Kah Kee’s descendants, and Mr. Zhang Ying, the Deputy Secretary General of the Mindu Educational Fund, delivered speeches, expressing deep remembrance for Mr. Tan Kah Kee.

Through organizing the activities, the university is committed to creating high-quality projects that are intellectual and participatory, showcasing the characteristics of Fujian and Xiamen University. It aims to inspire students and faculty to shoulder the responsibility of the nation, take on the mission of building a strong country, and strive to carry forward and innovate the spirit of Tan Kah Kee.
