The book launch event for Fujian and Modern Sino-German Relations was held at Xiamen University (XMU) on Oct 29.

The event was organized by Professor Liu Yue, vice-dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures at XMU. More than 20 experts and scholars attended the event.

Fujian and Modern Sino-German Relations, edited by Liu and Yang Yunshuo, was published by Xiamen University Press in December 2022 as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany. The book consists of 12 chapters covering the economic, cultural, social, and political exchanges between China and Germany in Fujian province in modern times. The book is also the achievements of the Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learnings among Civilizations of XMU.

Fan Jieping, professor from Zhejiang Unviersity, believes that cultural exchanges and mutual learning are important themes, and that the new book is a successful attempt at transcultural research focused on a specific region.
