XMU successfully holds Council Meeting of CSA Environmental Sociology Committee and its 5th Symposium

From Dec.17 to 18, the Council Meeting of the Committee of Environmental Sociology of Chinese Sociology Association (CSA) and the 5th Chinese Environmental Sociology Symposium was successfully held in Xiamen University. It was jointly hosted by the School of Public Affairs of Xiamen University, Center for Studies of Sociological Theory and Method of Renming University of China, Research Center for Environment and Society of Hehai University, Institute of Global Ethnology and Anthropology of Minzu University of China, and CSA Environmental Sociology Committee and other institutions. And it was organized by the XMU’s Department of Sociology and Social Work and Center for Studies of Population and Ecology. With “Green development and environmental sociology” as the theme, this symposium has drawn over 100 experts and scholars from more than 70 higher education institutions, study centers and journal editorial departments across China.



On the morning of Dec. 17, the opening ceremony kicked off at the Chengzhi Building. Vice President Zhan Xinli of XMU, Vice Chairman Prof. Chen Ajiang of the CSA Environmental Sociology Committee, Prof. Bao Zhiming and Vice Dean Prof. Hu Rong of School of Public Affairs of XMU witnessed the ceremony which was presided over by Asso. Prof. Zhou Zhijia, Chairman of the organizing committee, from the Department of Sociology and Social Work, XMU.
