Recently, at the invitation of XMU, the youth scholars delegation organized by the Harvard Medical School Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association (HMS-CSSA) visited XMU for academic exchanges. The delegation is composed of nine PhDs from Dana-Farber Cancer Research Center affiliated to HMS, Department of Cellular Biology, Department of Genetics, Boston Children’s Hospital and other institutes. President Zhu Chongshi had a cordial meeting with the delegation and expressed his expectation that the delegation members would pitch in and work together to propel China’s universities to the “Double Top-tier” ranking in the world.

The delegation mainly toured around the relevant colleges on Xiang’an Campus like the XMU Medical College and the XMU school of Life Sciences. And at the seminars, the visiting scholars shared their latest research findings and relevant frontier scientific developments in their respective fields. Besides, the lectures given by several PhDs of the delegation enlivened the atmosphere of the lecture hall and struck a chord with the XMU teachers and students who were keenly riveted by these Harvardians' vivid and articulate account of what is at the forefront of the development in their domains, the contents of which are also highly relevant to some academic disciplines and research fields at XMU. In return, the delegation members gained a better understanding of Xiamen University as well as some of its relevant research fields through the means of lecturing and touring, thus to lay a solid foundation for further cooperation in the days to come.
